Quality pronking in the Hills of Cortland

Cheryln Hills Alpaca Farm started in August 2018 with the purchase of 4 high quality pregnant foundation females (2 of which came with month-old crias) from Cabin View Alpacas in Trumansburg, NY.

As an accountant wanting to retire from an office environment, I decided to combine my love of animals, nature and my business acumen into a career change. I had been dreaming of owning a farm for many years and then watched a documentary on alpacas which peaked my interest. In addition, I watched a cooking show on PBS and was fascinated with the scenery shown at the opening. It turns out the show was filmed in the Finger Lakes of NY. I began traveling on weekends and started farm hunting. After 3 years of searching, I purchased a former horse farm and moved from the NYC area to Cortland, NY and here I am!

This was to be my first experience with alpacas so I spent a couple of years researching them and with mentoring from a few established Alpaca farms, I finally felt the time was right to begin my foray into raising and breeding high quality alpacas.

I am a small farm and as such my alpacas receive a lot of individual attention and tender loving care. I am taking things slowly and learning daily about the habits and needs of these beautiful, peaceful camelids.
